Supportability Engineering is the process of analyzing and developing the elements necessary to effectively and efficiently support a system or product throughout its lifecycle. This discipline ensures that supportability factors are taken into account at all phases, including the Design phase. It is aimed to analyze all ELD elements, including Reliability, Maintainability, Readiness for Use, and Testability, and to provide input to the design.
With the right supportability studies, it is ensured that the system or product is maintained in less time and at a lower cost, the frequency of failures is reduced, the failures are resolved faster, the user satisfaction is increased, and the warranty and life cycle costs are reduced.
