Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) is a discipline used to analyze the support activities that must be provided throughout the life cycle of a system or product at the very beginning of the Development period, to create input into the design, plan, manage and implement. ILS is a widely used method for product design and product support management.
ILS ensures that a system or product is effectively supported throughout its life cycle. These support activities cover various areas such as proper operation of equipment, supply of needed spare parts, preparation of technical documentation, personnel training, and planning of maintenance and repair activities.
The main goals of ILS are:
- Design and manufacture of the system or product in accordance with ILS requirements
- Reducing the life cycle cost of the system or product by trying to balance performance / maintenance costs
- Providing support activities needed during the use of the system or product
ILS approach;
- It increases the design quality.
- It reduces the warranty cost.
- It increases the ready-to-use value.
- It increases customer satisfaction.
- It reduces the life cycle cost.
For these reasons, ILS is a critical discipline for the successful use and sustainability of complex technical systems.
